Military Families to Benefit from Lilly Endowment
An $8.9 million gift from the Lilly Endowment announced October 10 will support the work of the Military Family Research Institute (MFRI). The only such university-based research center in the country, MFRI is designed to help military families better adapt to the challenges of repeated deployments and the stresses of raising and connecting with their children during wartime. The annual Family Impact Seminar, targeted to Indiana legislators, legislative staff, and key decision-makers, will be held Monday, November 19 in the Indiana Senate Chamber. Celebration Held for Hanley Hall
A ceremony to celebrate successful fundraising efforts for Bill and Sally Hanley Hall was held October 29. The $11.5 million facility will house the Human Development Institute and foster research on families and aging that will have a wide-reaching impact, not just for the University, but also for the state and beyond. Reading, Writing, and School Readiness
High quality pre-K programs can be especially beneficial for children at risk for school failure because of poverty, disability, and language differences.
